Behind the Resume #37 – Tammy Frankland

What is your title at EvCC, and what will you be doing in your day-to-day endeavors at the College?
Executive Vice President Instruction and Student Services. I envision supporting all institutional endeavors that align with our mission, vision, and strategic plan. I will serve others in my role.

Tell us a little about your professional background.
I have been a part-time and full-time faculty member in a community college. I have served as department chair, division chair, and dean.

What was your most memorable job? Why?
I worked as a sitter for a 10-year-old boy and 8-year-old girl. J.P. liked to torment me and even put gum in my hair; we removed it with peanut butter. He also “helped” me bake a pizza when I was on crutches; it wound up on the floor.

What does a typical day look like for you?

My daughter, Amber, and me under the famous antler arch in Jackson Hole, Wyoming

So far, I am attending a significant number of meetings, responding to emails, learning about the operations of EvCC, and trying to learn names.

Describe yourself at 10 years old.
I was skinny and nerdy; my nickname was PoGo. I spilled something at every meal, so my mother signed me up for ballet lessons. While I participated in ballet through college, I still spill things; just not at every meal.

What is your favorite meal/ snack in summer? Favorite summer beverage?
My favorite summer meal must involve tomatoes from the garden; I love a Miracle Whip and tomato sandwich with toasted bread. My favorite beverage is tart lemonade or iced tea.

What is your favorite movie and book?
My favorite recent movie is The Help; my favorite “recent” book is The Poisonwood Bible.
If I want a laugh, I enjoy Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. I enjoy most 19th century literature as well as world mythologies.

Favorite summer vacation spot?
My favorite summer vacation spot is anywhere I am with my immediate or extended family.

What is your favorite hobby or pastime?
I enjoy reading and have recently become a quilter. I also binge on HGTV.

What are you reading right now/ what was the last book you read? Are you participating in any reading challenges?
The last book I read was just finished yesterday. It was called The Lighthouse Keeper’s Daughter.

What one food do you wish had zero calories?
Potato chips and French onion dip.

Where is your hometown? Were you born and raised in the same place?
Watertown, New York

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I want to be EvCC’s Executive Vice President of Instruction & Student Services.

What do you like to do on your days off?
I like treasure hunting and searching for any kind of shoes online or in stores. I also like reading and quilting.
